25 Hummy's Humily

Since homilies are moral discourses given by clergy, Hummy decided to give a humily instead. Humilies are given on the wing and are characterized by their fleeting and dodging nature. It can be said that humilies are not so dreaded, as the all too frequent homilies, because of their transient quality.  In real-time they last not nearly as long as a flea fart and can be heard from only a few millimeters away. It is careful listening that counts.
This past week, the author of this dreadful blog, cast a shadow of doubt over the very existence of consciousness. The most accurate thing that can be said about consciousness is that there are far too many books written on the subject of consciousness.
There is a connection between homilies and consciousness because the homily taps the listener's guilt button located over the entire surface of the body. Homilies are given with extreme reverence from an elevated pulpit at the proper time in a place where the pews are stuffed with empty envelopes. Homilies are given to target any dread, worry or destructive intention that the listener may have seeking remorse and a humble attitude.
In contrast, this may be the only humily that you will ever be subjected to. No envelopes, no guilt button and consciousness is optional. The humily will pass through you in neutrino-like fashion with nearly the speed of light. Your best bet is to hum your favorite tune so as to attract the humily as it shoots through your body.
During the reading of this episode several humilies may have passed though you. So, if you missed them, try a different tune.

Meanwhile the small band of animals continue in their quest to turn the heads of human beings toward saving the planet Earth from destruction. Their sanctuary is a cave on the island of Dominica in the Lessor Antilles of the Caribbean.
"What in God's green Earth was that humily all about?", quacked Ducky the white duck. "You seem to trivialize what we are supposed to be all about here."
" I asked myself the same question",  Bertie, the peregrine falcon chimed in. " Mom Nature could assist us if we meditate together as a group. So, let's do it now.  Find a perch, Hummy, and stop flapping your wings."
Mary, the facilitator, crooned, " Looking around the double circle I see a consensus on that idea. So, we will all meditate for at least 10 minutes."
" Before we do that. I will ask the dumb question. Just what is meditation?," bleated Mum, the nanny goat.
" When you are speaking or thinking we are not open to receiving Mom Nature's messages. You then meditate to clear your mind of thinking and speaking," hooted Hooie, the owl. " And then you can be open with your mind and heart."
" When I was flying over Rousseau I watched an AA meeting and one of the humans read about prayer and meditation. At least some humans are on the right track, " squawked Fregata, the frigate bird.
"You cannot have vision and judgement at the same time. You can See with a capital 'S'  when you are not judging," clicked Free, the butterfly.

24 Consciousness Creates All

Hidden Messages in Water is a mysterious book written by a Japanese scientist in 2001. Masaru Emoto discovered that molecules of water are affected by our thoughts, words and feelings. While other scientists are busy brain-mapping as though neurons are the key to how things work, Emoto goes beneath the radar into simple pure water as the fulcrum of all consciousness. It’s the old ying-yang; the bean counters vs the mystics or  conservatives vs liberals and so on; should this be disturbing?
Accepting a dark side, and understanding it, could help to move into a new light. Knowing both sides of our souls, helps us all to move forward in life and to understand that, perfection doesn't exist. We are locked in a hug of ourselves bringing on inner conflict. The heat of friction fuels our tanks and drives us toward unknown destinations.
Allow me to return you to our curious double circle of animals in the cool cave beneath a waterfall on the Caribbean island of Dominica. Mom Nature has given them the daunting task of planet-saving by planting a seed of concerned consciousness into egomaniacal humans remembering what Einstein left us with. “Two things appear certain; the infiniteness of the Universe and human stupidity.”

Mary, the facilitating white pelican coached the group, “I would like for all of you to reverse your circles so that the inner becomes the outer and vice versa, You now  have a different perspective to interact with each other. As time goes on you’ll see the  the wisdom of this. Allow yourself to see the wisdom in each other.”
Joe, the anole, croaks haltingly, “I had so much to say while in the outer circle. And now I am stupefied by the pressure of this inner circle.”
Mum, the nanny goat, bleats, “I feel the pressure too. In the outer circle I could see the world and all the cures, but now I can’t think of a blessed thing to say. “
Mary, the facilitator, flaps her wings with anticipation, “Why don’t you visit with your supportive animal and get to know them from the heart. Why else would Mom Nature set us up as a double circle? If you feel their support at your back wisdom will exude from you as never before.”
The twenty-four turned to each other to strengthen their bond.
(a 10 minute pause in group action)
Free, the butterfly, clicked, “That was the best 10 minutes of my brief life. Paula, the parrot, told me that she admired my courage to breed in spite of such a brief butterfly life. She admitted that she was 48 years old and would probably reach 75. She actually told me that she would not have the courage to live if she only had two weeks to live. But, then, I had to tell her that I was Free the 4th  and she was talking with my great-great grandfather when our grouip started. Within his DNA,  I was able to know the double circle groups history. We share the knowledge of the thread of life that Mom Nature has given us.”
“Well now, the secret is out,” clicked Leda, the dragonfly.  “I admit that I may have snuck off to mate. You must know that dragonflies have only about 6 months to live. Now that Free has let the cat out of the bag, I too, have the DNA memory to bring to this group.”
“This is a real hoot,” said Hooie, the barn owl, “Can this be possible or even plausible? Is this memory in our nerves or just in the water within our bodies?”
Coqui, the frog, sang out, “I vote for water. But there is water in my nerves too. Regardless, water is the magic wand held by Mom Nature. Water will bring humans to their senses.”
Cackle, the grackle, cawed, “Are you saying that simple water can hold memory of past events? “
Mary intervened, “The property of water is a complex issue, but if recent research is verified by direct experience, this group of yours could convey knowledge to humans through your group conscience via the curtain of water falling here in our midst.”

23 Right-Brain Left-Brain

I hope, with your help, to complete the story of Hummy and BillyG by the end of the summer. This story is a lame but earnest effort to draw family, friends, and accidental readers into participation in the story. When you go to the blog you can start with the first session and work your way through the story, so far. We have completed 22 episodes with a goal of 30 plus.
This is story about humans as seen by animals who are living on the Caribbean island of Dominica. There are several themes running throughout the story; but all-in-all I hope to leave behind a carpet of dialogue so that the several dozen sons, daughter, daughters-in-laws, son-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces, treasured friends and fellow travelers who, I trust, will weave the story into the future.
A few experts predict that loving right-brained people will come into prominence within your lifetime. By right-brained I mean those who are care-givers, artists, teachers, healers, nurturers, people-pleasers, emotive folks, and often misunderstood souls who find themselves in a planet run by bankers, politicians, generals, and rule-driven bureaucrats who demand obedience while smacking you with scorn and small-change. You know the scene and the drill. If you don’t see yourself in this scenario I credit you with a clever disguise. You may find yourself saddled with a balanced brain and that is a complex problem but also a treasure. I do not mean to forget the left brained who give us double yellow lines in our roads, jails for our unruly right brains, and 35 dollar overdraft fees to spank our little right brained hands.
So, over time, I hope you will contribute by offering recipes, edits, more stories, poems, drawings, critiques, jabs, jokes, philosophy, and most of all your heart-stuff for our woven and threaded future.
The story is incomplete, but so far, a bunch of animals are forming a group in a cave on the Caribbean island of Dominica to help humans save our planet from self-destruction.
Should you not feel a strong kinship with each other, fear not,
Mom Nature has scattered you like seeds in the wind and even given you divergent personalities so that 1000 years from now your genes, memories, and quirky traits will have survived even as monuments and scrapbooks have disappeared. In all probability many people do not recognize whether they are right brained or left brained, but if you’re very empathetic you’re very right brained and if you’re very survival of the fittest type you are probably left brained.
We began the story with a glimpse of invincible incompatibility which suggests that most folks marry because of instinct and then, hopefully, become friends down the road.
Then the story is taken over mysteriously by the animals who possess an awareness that humans, in a semi-conscious way, yearn for. Why else would humans be pet-maniacs? This animal awareness is a natural evolutionary process. However, humans were catapulted out of serene and stable evolution thousands of years ago. Humans, have since, been tripping over their own enormous brains by way of unrestrained growth, ridiculous wars, greed, and power-mad leadership. The consequent resentments, which have lodged awkwardly in the losers, have created an impasse.  This impasse appears to fragment human behavior so much so that humans are unaware of the fragility of their own planet.  The author hopes to kindle a critical awareness that humans have left behind.
